Fruit Explosion Smothie!

As I have stated in previous a post, I really enjoy trying new things in my kitchen! The same applies to my blender! I have a personal blender, the lid opens for me to either drink directly from the piece I blended in, or it can come right off for me too pour out the contents. I reallllllly  need to invest in a full sized blender (any suggestions?!) I love having my personal blender, but it's a pain having to make multiple smoothies! Here is what I used to create this healthy, tasty drink!

  • 1 Orange
  • A handful of Green Grapes
  • a handful of Red Grapes
  • 1 portion Blueberry yogurt
  • 1 portion Peach yogurt
  • Ice

I threw them all in the blender, hit the button, and now have a fruity blend!
    Enjoy! :)

Gender Reveal Party!

It's a ...... BOY!!!!

On November 26th, 2012 1:16PM my dreams came true! Adrian Christopher was born! I know as a new parent the joy and love you experience. My journey started off terribly, after facing so many failed attempts at pregnancy, miscarriage after terrible miscarriage I was discouraged I would never get to endure pregnancy. On December 13th, 2011, I was blessed to have Chriss' son Damian placed into my home, to raise as my own, at seven months he was the perfect gift we needed to mend our hurting hearts! When we got Damian I was so blessed, but still feeling empty. I wanted so badly to experience the bond between a mother and the life that grows inside. I don't know why, or how my pregnancy with Adrian worked, but I know one thing is for sure, it was by far the best thing that has ever happened to me!

During the first twelve weeks of my pregnancy I was terrified that I would have to go through the nightmare of loosing my child, as the weeks went by, and my belly got bigger the fear lessened. With this being my first full term pregnancy it was and still is an amazing feeling. Everyone could feel the excitement radiating off of me, I wanted the world to know that I was having my baby, my body took to this pregnancy and I couldn't be more thankful. I decided I would get everyone together to share the gender. My sister was brilliant and planned a gender reveal party for me and Chris! BEST IDEA EVER!!!!!!!

Basically this is how it went; I invited a group of my closest friends, and of course our families. We decided to take advantage of the nice weather and held the event outdoors at Kiwanis Park! I had an ultra sound early in the morning, super excited to get a sneak peak at my bundle of joy, Chris, my sister and I headed to the appointment. We wanted to know the gender of our little miracle, but we made it VERY clear to technician that my sister would be the only one who left knowing, NO MATTER WHAT! We asked everyone to meet at the park a couple hours after my appointment, my sister blew up both pink and blue balloons with helium, decorated a box with pink and blue accents and when she got home from my ultra sound filled the appropriate color according to gender, and sealed the box shut!

Throughout my pregnancy I was certain I was having a girl, it got to the point where we had teams being formed, the pink team, and of course the blue. When we sent out the invites to the gender reveal party, we asked people to wear either pink or blue, to support the team they were rooting for.

Everyone was super anxious to know if they chose the right team! When it came to be the time to find out, Chris and I opened the box together, I got a face full of blue! For anyone who wants to see our video, here it is! :)

Personable Canvas Part 2!

I haven't actually had a moment to sit down and introduce the people who make my life worth living. I am so lucky to have my three boys, they keep me going through thick and thin! Chris and I are so proud of our two boys. Damian is the oldest, nearing the wonderful/terrible age of two, and his little brother, Adrian is three precious months! Needless to say, our house tends to be on the crazy/hectic/busy side. We have ONE family picture of the four of us,honestly, balancing four different time schedules isn't easy! It's far from perfect, but sums us up so well!

I noticed a huge response to the first post on personable canvas. I have finally completed part two of this! I wanted to create something that the kids could get involved with. They had a blast getting messy with the paint! Well Damian did at very least!

  • Canvas! ( I have two kids, so I used two )
  • Acrylic Paint.
  • Mod Podge
  • Photo 4X6.
  • Paint Brush.
  • Cosmetic Wedge.

I had old yucky pictures on my walls, they were cheap from the dollar store, I figured a more intimate picture would be more our style! So I painted the canvas solid black, the great thing about these projects is how personal it can be, choose whatever colors you wish to use! I highly recommend getting blank canvas if you wish to use a light color!

As I waited for the paint to dry, I went through all my photos of the kids, battled with myself for a good twenty minutes, and decided! I made sure the paint was 100% dry, and laid the photos on the now black canvas! I mod podged the backs of the photos, stuck them to the canvas in the spot I wanted them. I put a layer over the entire canvas, pictures included! Let that coat dry! The last step was the hardest for me! Chris usually works, and I have little to no patience when it comes to my projects, if I get an idea in my head I want to try it right away! Well I went ahead and did the kids hand and feet prints! Tip of advice, GET SOMEONE TO HELP! Here is my final result!

They may not be precise buuuut they are perfect to me!

Easy, Healthy, Inexpensive AND Delicious!

When you are raising two boys who are under the age of two, you quickly find out that your needs are put last. Please don't misread that as me complaining, I went through some rough times getting to motherhood, and I wouldn't change a thing! My boys come first, whatever they need,  (as long as it's reasonable, of course!) My living situation goes like this; I stay at home with the boys, and Chris is the one who brings home the bacon ;) (He once worked at a hog plant, I always got a kick out of that phrase..)

As a stay at home mom, I have to make a shout out to all the stay at home parents! (We work our butts off 24/7!) One in particular would be to my mommy. She is great! Becoming a mother I now see her in a whole new light. Staying at home keeping a clean house for your family, while keeping their taste buds happy is a lot of work! (I live with three boys, I am DREADING the teenage years! hahah) I have to take my hat off to my mom, she's always been there and always kept our home a loving one. She has not only shown but inspired  me to make a loving home for my family, and for that I am thankful. I love her to the moon and back!

Time management is very important to me, so when it come to cooking I prefer meal preparations to be fairly minimal. For special occasions I love spending time in the kitchen and perfecting, but on a day to day basis I like it quick, but with quality. I threw this together in less than 5 minutes! Here are the four simple things you will need;

  • Whole Wheat Tortilla
  • Thin Sliced Meat ( I used Schneiders Turkey Breast lunch meat )
  • Mustard.
  • Lettuce OR Snow Peas ( I had no lettuce in the house and resorted to Snow Peas, SO GOOD)

Toddler friendly too!! I hope you enjoy this simple lunch!

Watermelon Smoothie

Seriously SO good, and SUPER easy.

There are two, count em, 1, 2 ingredients for this delicious refreshing drink.
I know most people consider watermelon as a Summer fruit, but I grabbed one when I was last at the grocery store, maybe by drinking a Summer inspired beverage, I can put an end to this nasty weather... Probably not, but anywaaaay, I was putting away dishes when I saw my blender just sitting on the bottom shelf, minding it's own business. I already had the watermelon out, for Damians' bedtime snack. My mind quickly linked the two together, I cut the watermelon placed in my blender, added some ice, and now I am sipping on such goodness, thought I would share! :)

Chicken Potato Heaven! SLOW COOKER

Oh my goodness, I was so excited to share this recipe with you that I stopped half way through writing a post, to write and  post this one! I am currently eating this amazing combination, and with this crappy weather, it's some pretty good comfort food!

This recipe wasn't supposed to happen, I had plans on some slow-cooked chicken and potatoes, which is what I had originally put in my slow cooker, I kept adding things and hoping for the best. Well it turned out pretty great! Here is a list of what you will need!

  • 4 Chicken Breast Skinless Boneless.
  • 8 Large Potatoes.
  • 6 Carrots.
  • 1 Can Cream Corn
  • Small Brick Of Cheese.
  • 1 Large Onion.
  • 6 Slices Bread
  • Lipton Onion Soup Mix
  • 2 Table Spoons Sage
  • Olive Oil
  • 2 Table Spoons Butter/Margarine
In a slow cooker place chicken, chopped potatoes, chopped onions and carrots. Add in can of cream corn.
I put mine on high for 4-5 hours. I let mine over cook slightly so it was a nice mush ( that is what we want! )

When your "mush" has finished cooking, or is close to it, move onto the next step.

Rip up your six slices of bread into a large bowl, there is no need to make them even, or worry about how they look, just be sure to make them into small chunks! Add in 1 package of Lipton Onion Soup Mix, and Sage. Using your hands mix everything.  Melt butter/margarine and pour over the bread mixture, and again using your hands, mix well! Oil your pan with olive oil, and line the pan with the bread mixture.

Top with the chicken potato mixture. Shred cheese over top, pop in the oven to melt the cheese and enjoy!
